We're excited to bring laser scan support to Track3D! This functionality empowers you to leverage the power of laser scans within your existing workflow.

This article provides an overview of Track3D's upcoming support for laser scans. Laser scans are a type of reality capture that creates highly detailed 3D models of physical spaces. With Track3D's laser scan integration, you'll be able to view, navigate, and manage laser scan data alongside your other captured realities (e.g., 360 photos, phone images).

  • Enhanced Detail: Gain a deeper understanding of your project with incredibly detailed 3D models.

  • Improved Navigation: Explore complex spaces with ease using laser scan point clouds.

  • Consolidated Workflow: Manage all your reality capture data in one central location.

  • Data formats in which we require to consume the data are .e57 or .laz or .rcs

How to Identify Laser Scans in a Project

We've introduced new indicators to help you easily identify projects containing laser scans:

  • Project Card: Look for the "Laser - {number of scans}" icon on the project card, displaying the number of scans included.

  • Views Page: Each structure and layer will display the number of associated laser scans.

Important Notes:

  • Currently, only laser scan point clouds are displayed. Associated images for laser scans are not yet supported.

You can create tasks and issues directly on the point cloud, eliminating the need for associated images in this initial phase.

  • Laser Scan Images: View and manage images captured alongside laser scans.

  • Advanced Point Cloud Features: Explore additional functionalities for working with laser scan data.
