In this process, we'll walk through the steps to check for a firmware update on your camera, as well as how to update the firmware to the latest version using the app.

Firmware Update:

To ensure optimal camera performance, regularly update its firmware. Always ensure the camera has at least 20% battery charge before initiating an update.

Update Procedures:

  1. Via Insta360 App:

    • Connect camera to the Insta360 app.

    • If a new firmware version is available, the app will prompt you. Follow the on-screen instructions.

  2. Via Computer:

    • Power on camera

    • Connect camera to your computer using a USB Type-C cable and select "USB Mode."

    • Download the latest firmware file ("Insta3604FW.bin") from the official Insta360 website.

    • Copy the downloaded firmware file to the root folder of your camera .

App Update Troubleshooting: If an app-based firmware update fails, verify the following conditions and retry:

  • Camera is in close proximity to your phone.

  • The Insta360 app remains open and active (not exited or minimized).
