Adding Categories

Updated over a month ago

This article explains how to add categories in the Track3D platform. Categories help you organise and classify different aspects of your project, making it easier to track progress and analyse data.

Access the Category Selection: To start adding categories, go to the project details page.

Use Progress Configuration to add and manage progress tracking categories for your project.

You can create categories for the entire project or for specific levels to track progress more accurately at a granular level.

If you have similar projects, you can save time by importing existing categories from another project, or you can manually create new ones as needed.

When importing, a list of projects you’re part of will appear — select the one to import from.

Choose a Category: You can select a category in one of two ways:

Commonly used categories are displayed for quick access:

  • Drywall + Framing (7 Stages)

  • Framing (i) (6 stages)

  • Plumbing-Domestic (1 Stage)

  • Mechanical Duct (2 Stages)

  • Doors (2 Stages)

  • Mechanical Piping (2 Stages)

If a category is not visible, use the search bar to find it by name. Multiple categories can be selected and added at once.

Add the Category: Once a category is added, a color is automatically assigned. By default, all categories apply to every level.

Assigning Categories to Level: By default the categories are assigned to all levels when the progress is configured. As a user, you can now assign specific category to a particular level

You can easily assign a category to a specific level by selecting the desired level from the dropdown menu in the Level column and clicking Apply. The category will then be linked to that level.

Assigning Sheets: After progress configuration, assign relevant sheets to each category. Sheets not available for a level will prompt a dropdown suggestion to add them. You can also manually add a sheet type if it’s not listed.

If a sheet is missing for a level or category, the system will prompt you to add it from the dropdown list. If the sheet type isn’t listed, you can also add it manually.

Limits and Restrictions:

  • Duplicate Categories: Adding duplicate categories is not permitted. If you try to add a category that already exists, the message "Duplicate category. Please select a different category." will be shown.

  • Add Category Button: The "Add Category" button will be disabled when the maximum category limit is reached, or when attempting to add a duplicate category.
