Assigning Sheets to Zones

Updated over 4 months ago

Overview

You can now assign sheets directly to zones within a structure. This enables you to track progress at the zone level, making it easier to visualize 360° captures, notes, and assets by specific areas without creating unnecessary child structures.

This update streamlines your project hierarchy and reflects real-world workflows more accurately.

Uploading Sheets to Zones

  • Go to your Project details and go to Hierarchy and designs tab and select the ‘plus icon’ or ‘add designs’

  • Once the relevant drawing is selected Choose the Sheet Type and Assign the Sheet. Select the target Zone from the dropdown.

  • If the zone doesn’t exist, click Create New Zone (no boundary needed initially).

  • Once uploaded, the sheet becomes visible in the Zone Design List under that structure.

How to Use Zone Selection Combinations in the Viewer

Overview

The Zone Selection feature in the Track3D Viewer allows you to focus on specific areas (zones) of your structure and view associated sheets, assets, and captures.
Depending on whether you select one zone or multiple zones, the Viewer behavior changes to provide the most relevant visual and data context.

This article explains how zone selection combinations work and how they impact what you see in the Viewer and Design List.

Access the Zone Dropdown

  • Open your project and go to the Viewer. From the top drop down, locate the Zones.

  • You’ll see a list of zones defined for that structure.

Selecting a Single Zone (One Zone Selected)

When you select one zone from the dropdown. The Viewer automatically switches to display the sheets that are mapped to that particular Zone. The Design List automatically filters to show only the designs and sheets linked to the selected zone.

  • You can switch between the Zones specific sheet or Structural Sheet View by simply selecting the non-mapped zone sheet from the design list.

  • When a non-zone sheet is selected, the boundary of the zone is shown on the selected sheet.

Group 1, Grouped object

Example: If you select Zone A → the Viewer opens Zone A’s Sheet. You can switch back to the structural plan to see where Zone A fits within the entire structure.

Selecting Multiple Zones (Multiple Zones Selected)

When you select two or more zones from the dropdown:

  • The Viewer remains on the Structural Sheet View (it does not switch to any specific zone sheet).

  • All selected zones are highlighted within the structural floor plan to give you a combined overview.

  • The Design List automatically filters and displays sheets that belong to the selected zones only.

  • This helps you focus on specific grouped areas within the structure without opening each zone sheet individually.

Example: If you select Zone A + Zone B + Zone C → the Viewer shows the main structural sheet with these three zones highlighted, and the Design List only lists sheets from Zones A, B, and C.

To view the entire structure again, deselect all zones from the dropdown. The Viewer will revert to showing the complete structural sheet with all zones visible. The Design List will once again display all designs linked to the full structure.
