Schedule Timeline: Compare Schedule and Progress in Track3D

The Schedule Timeline brings your project schedule and Track3D progress data together in one view. Instead of switching between scheduling tools and Track3D, you can compare planned dates, actual progress, and schedule status directly from the Progress section.

Accessing Schedule Timeline

Schedule Timeline is available under: Progress → Schedule Timeline

Access depends on your project permissions:

  • View Schedule – Allows you to view the schedule timeline.

  • Manage Schedule – Allows you to view and edit planned schedule dates. This permission automatically includes View Schedule.

Understanding the Timeline

The Schedule Timeline provides a split view with:

  • Schedule table – Displays activities, planned dates, progress, and related information.

  • Gantt chart – Visualizes planned start and finish dates.

  • Shared navigation – Scrolling and selecting activities in the table and Gantt chart stay synchronized.

  • Data Date line – A vertical line on the timeline helps compare schedule dates with current progress.

Each activity is represented by a planned date range, with the completed portion of the activity shown based on available progress data.

Schedule Status

Activities can have different statuses based on their planned schedule and available progress, including:

  • On Track

  • Ahead

  • Behind

  • Late

  • Complete

  • In Progress

  • NA

Activity Details

The timeline provide additional information for individual activities, including:

Activity ID and Source

Activity IDs are displayed along with their source, such as an uploaded schedule, P6, or MS Planner.

Average Rate and Expected Completion

For applicable activity-level rows, Schedule Timeline displays:

  • Average Rate – The calculated progress rate.

  • Expected Completion – The estimated completion date based on the current progress rate.

Open an Activity in Floor Plan

You can quickly investigate an activity directly from the schedule.

  • Hover over an activity row.

  • Select the Floor Plan link.

  • Track3D opens the Viewer with the relevant structure, zone, category, and stage pre-selected.

  • The configured floor plan sheet for that structure and category is then displayed.

  • A temporary context message indicates which schedule activity you opened from.

Edit Planned Dates

Users with Manage Schedule permission can update planned start and finish dates directly from Schedule Timeline.

  • Open the table's 3-dot menu and select Edit.

  • Select the edit icon next to a planned start or finish date.

  • Enter a date or select one from the calendar.

  • Continue making changes across multiple activities.

  • Select Save to apply all changes.

  • Select Discard to remove all unsaved changes.

Dates are validated to ensure that:

  • They fall within the project's duration selected on Track3D.

  • The planned start date is not later than the planned finish date.

Saving Schedule Changes

Once saved, related Track3D views and analytics may take some time to recalculate.

If a new schedule is uploaded later, the newly uploaded schedule becomes the active version and replaces the earlier schedule.

Note: If you leave Edit mode or navigate away while you have unsaved changes, Track3D will ask you to confirm before discarding them.

Data Gaps

The Data Gaps column helps identify why an activity may not have complete progress information.

The indicators are mentioned below:

  • No progress – Progress data is unavailable.

  • No take-off – No take-off is configured.

  • No schedule – Schedule information is unavailable.

  • – No data gap is identified.

You can filter by multiple data-gap types. The filter returns activities matching any of the selected options.

Last Capture Date

The timeline displays the last capture date for each structure, helping you understand how recent the available progress data is when comparing it with the schedule.

Timeline Navigation

Use the timeline controls to review your schedule at different levels of detail.

  • Zoom – Change the timeline scale.

  • Jump to Today – Quickly centre the Gantt chart around today's date.

  • Horizontal and vertical scrolling – Navigate large schedules more easily.

Projects Without a Schedule

If a project does not have a schedule uploaded, or if a schedule is still being processed, Schedule Timeline displays the appropriate information.

Users with the required permissions can upload a schedule.

Why Use Schedule Timeline?

Schedule Timeline helps project teams move from "What is the plan?" to "How is actual progress comparing to the plan?" in one place.

It provides a single workspace to:

  • Compare planned dates with progress.

  • Identify activities that are behind or late.

  • Investigate activities directly in the Floor Plan.

  • Review progress rates and expected completion.

  • Identify missing schedule or progress data.

  • Make quick schedule-date adjustments when required.
